In Pittsburgh, several patients with varicose veins have come to see me lately for a second opinion.
They commonly described their experience in which their initial varicose vein consultation was done at another facility by a nurse.
Afterwards, varicose vein ultrasound testing was done which was also ordered by the nurse and finally a decision was made for their treatment before ever seeing a doctor at all!
Incredibly, they said that they met the doctor for the first time on the day of their laser surgery!
The lucky ones never returned after the initial consultation with the nurse because they felt uneasy not seeing a doctor and with this entire approach.
You Pay a Lot for Your Insurance
For those people who went through with treatment at another center, I asked them why they tolerated this method of practice.
They mention television advertisements that caught their eye or said that the other office was closer to their home.
Usually they couldn’t even remember the name of the doctor and couldn’t remember the name of the varicose vein center either.
Unbelievably to me, this approach has become more of the standard in Pittsburgh. This meat market way of treating varicose veins successfully pushes through a volume of patients while maximizing profit at the expense of proper medical treatment and results.
Every person’s varicose veins are very different and therefore treatment plans must be customized. The type of treatment which may have worked for your friend or relative will often not be what you need to get the best result.
That is why a personalized approach with one qualified and experienced doctor from the beginning to the end works the best. You work hard to pay for your medical insurance and you deserve the best.
You Should Expect to See a Doctor and Nothing Less
Medicine is changing and in my opinion the gang approach to vein care is wrong.
If this approach sounds as crazy to you as it does to me, consider coming to see me first at the Kavic Laser & Vein Centre for your varicose vein treatment.
I will personally design a treatment plan on your first trip to my office. I will clearly explain what I think is necessary without intermediary ancillary medical personnel making that important decision or doing your actual treatment.
I am personally responsible for your care and I pride myself on continuing this traditional one on one individualized approach.
In my office, it really is different compared to these franchised chains treating varicose veins which are metastasizing throughout Pittsburgh and into nearby states.
This style of medicine is not how I would want to be treated and is not the way medicine and surgery should be practiced.
If you agree, call 724-987-3220 and see me at the Kavic Laser & Vein Centre for a consultation.
