In Pittsburgh, several patients with varicose veins have come to see me lately for a second opinion.

They commonly described their experience in which their initial  varicose vein consultation was done at another facility by a nurse.

Afterwards, varicose vein ultrasound testing was done which was also ordered by the nurse and finally a decision was made for their treatment before ever seeing a doctor at all!

Incredibly, they said that they met the doctor for the first time on the day of their laser surgery!

The lucky ones never returned after the initial consultation with the nurse because they felt uneasy not seeing a doctor and with this entire approach.

Unbelievably to me, this approach has become more of the standard in Pittsburgh. This meat market way of treating varicose veins successfully pushes through a volume of patients while maximizing profit at the expense of proper medical treatment and results.

Every person’s varicose veins are very different and therefore treatment plans must be customized. The type of treatment which may have worked for your friend or relative will often not be what you need to get the best result.

That is why a personalized approach with one qualified and experienced doctor from the beginning to the end works the best. You work hard to pay for your medical insurance and you deserve the best.

You Should Expect to See a Doctor and Nothing Less

Medicine is changing and in my opinion the gang approach to vein care is wrong.
